Yanbu is one of the governorates of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located on the coast of the Red Sea. The history of Yanbu goes back at least 2500 years, as it was located on the spice and incense route from Yemen to Egypt and the Mediterranean. Yanbu was the supply center and base of operations for Arab and British forces while they were fighting the Ottomans during World War I. The city is divided into 3 cities: Yanbu al-Nakhl, Yanbu al-Bahr, and Yanbu al-Sinaiyah. The origin of the city's name is due, as historians say, to the fact that it contains 370 springs of running water.
