Description
The city of Al-Mazar is located at an altitude of 1260 m above sea level in the Moab Mountains and enjoys a cool climate in winter and mild in summer. It contains the tombs of the Companions who were martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah that took place in Jumada Al-Awwal of the eighth year of Hijrah (corresponding to August 629 AD), and they are Jaafar bin Abi Talib, Zaid bin Haritha and Abdullah bin Rawahah. In the city there is the oldest Islamic museum (Museum of the Islamic Shrine) in Jordan specializing in Islamic antiquities.
